Hartman debuts, Kings unsure, Max Talbot

Tonight former first round pick Ryan Hartman makes his debut for the Chicago Blackhawks. This recall makes sense on multiply levels. While the Hawks have some size and toughness; a team loads of skill and speed could also use more nastiness. The question becomes this what is the real motive to the recall? Is it for him to have a look on the 4th line or are they showcasing him for teams interested in him? Only time will tell.

Talbot to become available
Teams seem to be endless that want Toronto’s of Daniel Winnik. The Leafs have set their sights on a 2nd round draft pick; which it is 50/50 whether they get that back in return.  One small problem the Leafs may have; other teams might switch there attention to another player very similar but one who has a Stanley Cup ring; Colorado’s Maxime Talbot. The ex -Penguin & Flyer has 1 year remaining on his contract, a cap hit of 1.750 million; but a base salary of 1 million. The Avalanche are now 8 points behind the 2nd wild card with 3 teams to jump past. I honestly see the Av’s getting a 2nd rounder maybe more before the Leafs getting the same.

Are the Kings buyers or sellers
Despite winning three in a row; Kings General Manager Dean Lombardi is on the fence on what direction to take the team. LA remains 3 points behind Calgary for the 2nd wild card spot. If the Kings remain close within 4-5 points they will become buyers; if they tail off they likely would become sellers (Stoll, Williams etc). They likely would wait until March 2 to despite on which approach. If they do become buyers look for them to be in on Franson, Yandle or Sekara; with some extra depth up front as well.
